While I have had great success with Reddit as a means of driving traffic to my blog, I have had nothing but complete and utter failure with Digg.
Digg seems to be a lot more about creating a network with other users and having followers if you want any chance at all of having your stuff displayed for the general public.
I have submitted a lot of my own stuff there, including the same posts that have gotten 10+ up votes and hundreds of views on Reddit, but I have seen practically 0 traffic from Digg and none of my links got as much as a single "Digg".
I also tried submitting links that are not to my own blog.
Again, this worked alright on Reddit, with some of them getting a fair amount of up votes, but on Digg there was just no reaction at all.
Basically my conclusion about Digg so far must be that unless you already have an active account there with a solid following, it is not really worth it trying to post your stuff there.
Maybe if you really work hard a it and love trying to build a network you will have more success.
However for me the time to pageview ratio does just not seem to be worth it.
